The Panorama programme features a section about this campaign, and specifically about how threatening a council with a Litter Abatement Order can have an effect. I did this in relation to a particularly badly littered area in Barnet (one which was impossible to get to and clear safely by an individual acting alone), and after persiting, I managed to getthe council to clear the litter themselves.
Fri April 4th:
I have now taken delivery of hundreds of rolls of green sticky tape, with the website logo and address running through it, and will start sending it out, when the current batch of ribbon runs out. I hope the tape will be more practical. It can either be used to secure the filled bag at the top, or more likely, a stretch of it can just be stuck on to the bag wherever it's left. Please contact me if you'd like a roll.

There's now a poster available to download, print and display anywhere you feel it may get seen. You can find it on the home page or Contact Us page.
Monday March 10th:
Thanks for registering and showing such enthusistic support. In the five days since we launched, the website has taken nearly 28,000 hits and approaching 600 of you have registered. I've sent out 250 starter packs of badges and ribbon, and have now run out of ribbon! But more is on order.
The task now, to help the campaign grow, is to make it visible. That we'll do by wearing the badges, and using the ribbon to tie up any bags we fill, especially if they are left in places where they'll be seen. And please record every litter-clear you do on the 'Litter You Have Cleared' area of the site.
A few more quick announcements:
A Pay Pal link has now been set up, for those who want to make a £3 donation to cover the costs of the badges, ribbon and postage. Thanks to all those who've sent cheques.
I'm working on getting a link on the site to places which sell litter pickers/grabbers.
There'll also be a photgraphs page on the website in the near future, where you can see evidence of your exploits and those of others.
Finally, we're all of course responsible for our own safety while picking up litter, but please TAKE CARE WHEN CARS ARE ABOUT, AND BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU'RE PICKING UP IF YOU'RE USING BARE HANDS.
